In order to be able to access the department shared drives as a new user, you should:

Request access to School of Medicine IT:

Submit a request service form in the following link: https://uncch.service-now.com/sp?id=sc_cat_item&sys_id=0c949e07dbc67700c4444b9f299619ca

Add the drives to your computer: 

       Windows:
    1.  Open File Explorer from the taskbar or the Start  menu, or press the Windows logo key  + E.

    2.  Select This PC from the left pane. Then, on the Computer tab, select Map network drive.

    3.  In the Drive list, select a drive letter. (Any available letter will do.)

    4.  In the Folder box, type the path of the folder: \\ad.unc.edu\med\Biochemistry\Groups\Cook Lab. You should then uncheck the reconnect at login option and check the Connect using different credentials option.

    5.  Select Finish.

       MacOS:
    1.  In Finder, either hit Command+K to bring up “Connect to Server” or click Go > Connect to Server
    2.  Enter the path of the network drive you’re trying to map (e.g. smb://192.168.1.300/shared/Files) and click Connect
    3.  Enter your login details and password then click OK to mount the network drive
