Blue recycling cans are not emptied by the housekeeping staff, so every lab member is responsible for emptying them when they are full. To empty your lab’s small, blue recycling cans demonstrates excellent lab citizenship!

The small, blue recycling cans in the lab should be emptied into the large, blue recycling bins in corridors 3000F or 3000L (by the restrooms). Please make sure that only the correct items go into their corresponding bins. There are two kinds of large recycling bins, paper and plastic. The bins for paper should only contain magazines, newspapers, phone books, cereal boxes, and junk mail. The bins for plastic should contain bottles and cans. At UNC, styrofoam and plastic bags are not recyclable.

Corridor 3000F also has a bucket for alkaline batteries to be recycled. (Lead-acid batteries must be picked up by UNC Environment, Health and Safety. For this, see the lab manager.)
